GANNON/MERCYHURST GAME STORYLINES

The Wayne State University women's basketball team begins league play for the second straight year against Gannon and Mercyhurst. This year, however, the Erie schools begin with games in Michigan.

Gannon is at WSU on Thursday, while MC visits Hillsdale on the final day of the month. The road teams switch locations for Saturday's contests.

The Warriors are 1-0 at home this season and Thursday's contest starts a three-game homestand, all against GLIAC foes.

ON THE BENCH

Wayne State's Gloria Bradley has a 77-90 mark in her seventh season with the Warrior basketball program. Her overall 14-year coaching mark stands at 191-159, which includes seven seasons at Montclair State (1993-2000).

Cleve Wright is in his fifth year at Gannon and has an overall record of 65-52 with the Lady Knights.

Mercyhurst's Karin Nicholls has a 18-40 record in her third year with the Lakers. Her 10-year overall mark stands at 107-142.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

Wayne State leads the all-time series against Gannon with a 17-12 mark. WSU has a 14-9 series lead versus Mercyhurst after ending the Lakers three-game series win streak last February.

IN THE POLLS

The Warriors were selected fifth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll. The Lady Knights were picked third and Mercyhurst was tabbed for sixth.
