KENTUCKY WESLEYAN/SOUTHERN INDIANA GAME STORYLINES
The Wayne State University women's basketball team begins a stretch of six consecutive non-league contests with a trip to Owensboro, Ky., this Saturday to face Kentucky Wesleyan. The Warriors are 0-3 away from the Matthaei this season.
WSU returns to Detroit for its last home game in nearly a month when the USI Screaming Eagles visit for a Tuesday night, Dec. 19, match-up. Wayne State has a 3-1 mark in the Matthaei this year.
ON THE BENCH
Wayne State's Gloria Bradley has a 79-91 mark in her seventh season with the Warrior basketball program. Her overall 14-year coaching mark stands at 192-159, which includes seven seasons at Montclair State (1993-2000).
Ron Williams has a 39-51 record in his fourth year with the Panthers.
USI head coach Rick Stein has compiled a 133-81 mark in his eighth season with the Screaming Eagles.
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS
Wayne State trails in the all-time series, 0-2, versus Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers won a 64-54 decision on Dec. 13, 1997, in Detroit, and posted a 76-72 win over WSU on Dec. 30, 2005, at the Matthaei.
Southern Indiana has a 3-0 lead in the all-time series after last year's 82-66 USI win in Evansville.
IN THE POLLS
The Warriors were selected fifth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll, while Kentucky Wesleyan was picked fourth in the GLVC East Division. Southern Indiana was tabbed for fifth in the GLVC West Division.
SERIES NOTES
Gloria Bradley has an 0-1 all-time mark against Kentucky Wesleyan after last year's 76-72 loss in Detroit.
This will be WSU's first-ever women's basketball game at KWC.
