DECEMBER 22-30 GAME STORYLINES
The Wayne State University women's basketball team begins a stretch of seven consecutive road games this Friday when it faces Lake Superior in University Center. The Warriors will play at Saginaw Valley on Saturday.
The road trip continues at the Cougar Classic in Edwardsville, Ill., on Dec. 29-30. WSU will tangle with SIUE, the host school the first day, and will have a rematch against Southern Indiana the next afternoon.
Wayne State has three straight road league contests to begin the New Year, starting with a Jan. 6 match at Northwood.
ON THE BENCH
Wayne State's Gloria Bradley has a 79-93 mark in her seventh season with the Warrior basketball program. Her overall 14-year coaching mark stands at 192-161, which includes seven seasons at Montclair State (1993-2000).
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS
WSU has never beaten Lake Superior in Gloria Bradley's tenure compiling an 0-6 GLIAC regular-season mark and an 0-2 record in the GLIAC post-season tournament.
The Warriors are 4-2 versus Saginaw Valley in Bradley's six seasons. Wayne State has only played SIU-Edwardsville once during the 33-year history of WSU women's basketball. The Cougars fell to the Tartars, 66-63, in Edwardsville on Nov. 14, 1997.
Southern Indiana holds a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series after a 72-69 win in Detroit on Dec. 19.
SERIES NOTES
Gloria Bradley has an 0-8 all-time mark against Lake Superior after last year's 100-73 Laker win in Detroit on Jan. 28.
WSU has compiled a 4-2 record versus Saginaw Valley during Gloria Bradley's WSU tenure.
Wayne State defeated SIU-Edwardsville, 66-63, in the only previous meeting on Nov. 14, 1997.
The Warriors are 0-4 all-time against the Screaming Eagles after USI's 72-69 win in Detroit on Dec. 19, 2006.
IN THE POLLS
The Warriors were selected fifth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll, while Lake Superior and Saginaw Valley were picked for fourth and sixth, respectively in the GLIAC North Division.
