Cleveland, Ohio - The Wayne State University women's fencing team won three of its four dual matches on Saturday at the Cleveland State Duals. The Warriors defeated Cleveland State (19-8), Case Western (16-8) and Bowling Green (23-3), but lost to Ohio State (18-9).
WSU was strong in the epee as both Anna Garina (5-0) and Anna Vinnikov (5-0) were undefeated.
In the foil, both Lindsey Howard (8-3) and Kathryn Hefner (6-5) posted winning records.
Jinelle Lawson (6-3) was the lone sabre fencer with a winning record.
The Warriors will be idle until participating in the West vs. Central competition on February 21 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
