Notre Dame, Ind. - Six Wayne State University female fencers competed in the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday at the University of Notre Dame.

Senior Anna Garina placed third in the epee, while junior Justyna Konczalska was sixth.

Senior Lindsey Howard placed ninth in the foil.

WSU had three competitors in the sabre -- junior Kasia Kuzniak was fifth, freshman Ann Bartoszewicz was ninth and senior Alicia Chmielewski was 14th.

The listing of those who qualified for the NCAA Championship will be announced later this week.
