Evanston, Ill. - The Wayne State women's fencing squad went 3-2 at the Northwestern University Dual meet this past Saturday (Nov. 15). The Warriors defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (15-12), Cleveland State (15-12) and Lawrence (20-5), but lost to North Carolina (17-10) and Temple (21-6).
Newcomer Anna Garina competed in the epee and compiled a 14-1 mark. Junior Anna Vinnikov (Ma'alot, Israel) posted a 12-3 record in the epee.
Freshman Lindsey Howard (Goshen, Ind./Mishawaka) went 13-2 in her first collegiate competition. Howard competed in the foil. Jinelle Lawson (Clayton, Mich./Sand Creek Community) went 11-4 in the sabre for the Warriors.
WSU will travel to Penn State for an open meet on Saturday (Nov. 22).
