Women's Fencing Compiles 7-2 Mark At Northwestern Dual

Evanston, Ill. - The Wayne State University women's fencing squad compiled a 7-2 mark at the 2005 Northwestern Duals meet held this past Saturday and Sunday in Evanston, Ill.

The Warriors went 4-0 the first day with wins over Air Force (17-10), Stanford (16-11), North Carolina (14-13) and Cal State-Fullerton (15-12).

Top performances on day one were turned in by Kasia Kuzniak (8-4 in the sabre), Anna Garina (11-1 in epee), Justyna Konczalska (11-1 in epee) and Lindsey Howard (11-1 in foil).

WSU went 3-2 on day two with victories over Johns Hopkins (16-11), Lawrence (23-4) and Cleveland State (23-4). Wayne State lost to UC-San Diego (15-12) and Northwestern (19-8).

Day two leaders for the Warriors were Kuzniak (13-1 in sabre), Garina (10-2 in epee), Konczalska (10-2 in epee) and Howard (10-5 in foil).

Wayne State's next competition will be Saturday, December 3 when it hosts the Istvan Danosi Michigan Open at the Matthaei Athletic Complex.
