Detroit, Mich. - The Wayne State women's hockey team (7-12-0) lost, 4-1, to visiting Colgate (8-9-1) Friday night at City Ice Arena. The win was the Raiders' fourth straight.

Colgate started things off when it scored twice in the opening period. Tara French lit the lamp near the 13 minute mark, while Carly McNaughton scored with just 10 seconds left in the period.

The Raiders would add another to make the score 3-1 before freshman defenseman Tegan Schroeder (Lumdsen, Saskatchewan/Notre Dame Hounds) scored for the Warriors in the third period. Schroeder scored on a rebound when freshman forward Brandi Frakie (St. Louis Park, Minn./Minnesota Thoroughbreds) took the initial shot. Frakie received the pass from sophomore blueliner Tina Vanderhoeven (London, Ontario/London Juniors).

But Colgate wasn't done as it scored one final goal three minutes later by Beth Rotenberg, her second goal of the game.

Colgate was 1-for-4 on the power play while Wayne State could not convert on five chances.

Junior Tiffany Thompson (Dryden, Ontario/Thunder Bay Queens) started in goal for the Warriors and made 18 saves. Her counterpart, Elayne Hamashuk, made 26 saves.

The same teams will face off at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Taylor Sportsplex.
