Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Wayne State women's hockey team (15-18-1) lost, 4-1, against No. 2 Mercyhurst (32-1-3) in the College Hockey America championship on Saturday afternoon at the RMU Island Sports Center.

The Warriors scored on its first shot on goal just two minutes into the contest, a slapper by sophomore forward Melissa Boal (Pakenham, Ontario/Ottawa Raiders) on a screen that came after a Mercyhurst turnover deep in their zone. The Lakers tied the score at one seven minutes later when Melissa Dianoski scored. Mercyhurst took its first lead of the contest when Meghan Agosta beat junior netminder Valery Turcotte (Jonquiere, Quebec/Royal Metabetchouan) on a breakaway.

Mercyhurst took a 3-1 lead midway through the second period on a Valerie Chouinard wrist shot from the goal line that hit the inside left post.

The Lakers ended the scoring with an empty-net goal by Valerie Chouinard late in the third period.
