Durham, N.H. - No. 9 Boston College defeated the Wayne State women's hockey team, 5-4, on the second day of the UNH Tournament. The Warriors, on a three-game losing streak, dropped their record to 5-9, while BC improved to 10-2-1.

BC scored three times in an eventful first period as Wayne State scored two of its own as the Eagles were up, 3-2, after 20 minutes. The Eagles led 2-0 before Wayne State knotted the game. All four goals came six minutes apart. Sophomore forward Lindsay DiPietro (Manotick, Ontario/Ottawa Lady Senators) scored for the Warriors to make it 2-1, just two minutes after Eagle Allie Thunstrom scored her 10th goal of the season to put BC up, 2-0. The Warriors would tie the game just two minutes after DiPietro's marker when sophomore forward Sam Poyton (Hamilton, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres) beat BC netminder Molly Schaus. But the Eagles were not finished as Deborah Spillane had Boston College up, 3-2, with just 12 seconds remaining in the opening period.

Both teams scored a goal apiece for the second and third periods. Poyton scored her second of the contest at the 6:55 mark of the middle stanza while freshman defenseman Chelsea Burnett (Ridgeway, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres) lit the lamp in the third. Burnett's goal came just over two minutes remaining in the contest. The Warriors pulled the goalie with 15 seconds remaining, but could not get the equalizer.

Boston College was 2-for-4 on the power play, while Wayne State was 1-for-4.

Junior Tiffany Thompson (Dryden, Ontario/Thunder Bay Queens) had the nod to start for the Warriors, but was pulled after giving up two goals in the opening period. Junior Valery Turcotte (Jonquiere, Quebec/Royal Metabetchouan) relieved Thompson and had the loss as she gave up the remaining three goals of the game.

Wayne State is now 0-4 against ranked teams this season.

It does not get any easier for Wayne State as it will host No. 8 Princeton at City Ice Arena in two weeks, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9, at 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
