Detroit, Mich. - The Wayne State women's hockey team (6-10-0) lost a tough one-goal game to No. 9 Princeton (9-5-2), 1-0. The loss broke a five game losing streak for the Tigers and salvaged a split with Wayne State, who won Friday's contest, 4-2.
After a scoreless first period, the Tigers scored the lone goal in the contest, as Marykate Oakley beat junior netminder Valery Turcotte (Jonquiere, Quebec/Royal Metabetchouan) over the glove-hand. The goal was a short-handed marker, the second such goal allowed this season by the Warriors and fourth scored by Princeton.
Wayne State pulled Turcotte for an extra attacker with 1:38 remaining in the contest, but could not get the equalizer.
Wayne State will open College Hockey America play when it hosts Niagara on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16-17.
