Sophomore forward Kristy Leng (Lindenhurst, Ill./Wisconsin Wild) has been named the College Hockey America Offensive Player of the Week.
Leng is coming off a four-point series last weekend against Rensselaer, beginning with a goal just 3:37 into Friday's contest, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead in a game they would go on to win, 2-1, to snap their six-game winless streak.
After being down 1-0 through the first period on Saturday, Wayne State scored four times in the second period, with Leng assisting on three of the goals including the game-winner. With her performance, she set a school record for assists in a period, and tied the record for points in a period.
This is Leng's first league award this season, and the second of her career. She previously won the Rookie of the Week honor on Dec. 7 of last season.
Wayne State travels to Robert Morris for CHA action this weekend, Jan. 27-28. The next home series for the Warriors is Feb. 10-11 against Mercyhurst.
