Eleven members of the Wayne State women's hockey team were recognized for their academic achievements as they were named to the CHA All-Academic Team yesterday. The 11 players equals Mercyhurst's total as the most on a team in the league, while 34 players from all four teams made the squad.

Senior Laura Monk (Mississauga, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres) is the only Warrior to make the list for the third time in her career, while six players were selected for the second time: juniors Jenny Cameron (Cooper City, Fla./North American Hockey Academy), Ashley King (Winnipeg, Manitoba/River East Lightning), Tiffany Thompson (Dryden, Ontario/Thunder Bay Queens), Valery Turcotte (Jonquiere, Quebec/Royal Metabetchouan), Danielle Wilson (Gravenhurst, Ontario/Toronton Aeros) and redshirt-sophomore Becky Sonn (Waupaca, Wis./Madison Capitols). The remaining players are on the list for the first time in their collegiate careers: sophomores Melissa Boal (Pakenham, Ontario/Ottawa Raiders), Lindsay DiPietro (Manotick, Ontario/Ottawa Lady Senators), Tina Vanderhoeven (London, Ontario/London Juniors) and redshirt-freshman Stephanie Rees (Westland, Mich./Little Caeser's).

Wayne State will face Niagara in the conference semifinals at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at Robert Morris' Island Sports Center.
