Three members of the Wayne State women's hockey team earned CHA All-League honors. Sophomore forward Melissa Boal (Pakenham, Ontario/Ottawa Raiders) was named to the First Team, while sophomore forward Sam Poyton (Hamilton, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres) and freshman defenseman Tegan Schroeder (Lumsden, Saskatchewan/Notre Dame Hounds) were named to the Second Team. This is the second time Boal has been named First Team All-CHA.

Boal has played in all 32 games this season and has been named CHA Offensive Player of the Week three times (Oct. 9, Oct. 30, Jan. 22). Both she and Poyton set the career goal mark earlier this season, which was 35. Last weekend against Robert Morris, she became the all-time career points leader in WSU history (90 points), passing Kelly Zamora (89). She leads the team in goals (25), points (42), power-play goals (11) and short-handed goals (2).

Sam Poyton

Poyton has played in all 32 games this season. She, along with Boal, set the career goal mark earlier this season. She has been one of the most consistent players all year and is third on the team in points (35), and is second in goals (17), assists (18) and power-play goals (6).

Tegan Schroeder

Schroeder has played in 31 games. While she doesn't get noticed as well as Boal and Poyton, she has done an extremely well job in her first season of collegiate hockey. She has three goals and five assists for eight points. She is one of few players that recorded at least one point in both Mercyhurst series, recording an assist on Jan. 13 and scoring a power-play goal against the Lakers on Feb. 17.

Wayne State faces Niagara in the conference semifinals on Friday, March 2, at 1:00 p.m. at the Robert Morris Island Sports Center.
