DETROIT - For the first time in school history, a Wayne State University women's hockey player has been voted an All-American. Junior forward Melissa Boal (Pakenham, Ont./Ottawa Raider) has been named to the 2007-08 RBK All-American First Team. The RBK All-American Ice Hockey Teams are sponsored by RBK Hockey, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

Boal was instrumental in leading the Warriors to a share of their first CHA regular season title with a school record 22 wins and first national ranking in school history (10th in USA Today/USA Hockey women's poll). She leads the NCAA in points per game (69, 2.16). Boal also ranks third nationally in goals per game (35, 1.09), assists per game (34, 1.06), power play goals (11), and is tied for second with short-handed goals (3). She also is tied for seventh in game-winning goals (5). Boal set a record with four hat tricks this season and was named College Hockey America (CHA) Offensive Player of the Week a league-high five times (Oct. 22, Nov. 19, Jan. 14, Jan. 28, Mar. 3) while becoming the first Wayne State women's hockey player to score five goals and record seven points in a game. She has accumulated a school record 162 points (86-76) in 101 career game and over the past three years.
