The Wayne State women's ice hockey team (0-4-2) concluded its weekend series with Clarkson (3-2-1) with a 1-1 tie on Saturday. October 22, 2005, at City Sports Center Arena in Detroit, Mich.
On a Wayne State power play in the second period, Lindsay DiPietro (Manotick, Ont./Ottawa Lady Senators) scored off of a rebound with assists from Melissa Boal (Pakenham, Ont./Ottawa Raiders) and Peyton Patterson (Brampton, Ont./Toronto Sting).
With 12:27 left to go in the third period, Clarkson had a five on three advantage but the Warrior defense held strong, not allowing a game tying goal during that time.
With 3:12 to go in the third period, Clarkson left wing Ashley Shaidle scored an unassisted goal, sending the game into overtime, resulting in the final 1-1 overtime tie.
WSU sophomore goalie Tiffany Thompson made 34 saves including double-digit totals in each of the regulation periods. Clarkson netminder Kira Hurley stopped 13 Warrior shots.
Wayne State went one-for-five on the power play, while stopping all eight Golden Knight man-advantage opportunities.
The Warriors travel to Hamilton, New York, to play Colgate on October 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m.
