Detroit, Mich. - Wayne State women's hockey junior defenseman Danielle Wilson (Gravenhurst, Ontario/Toronto Aeros) was named College Hockey America Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in a weekend split against conference rival Niagara. The award is her first such honor.

Wilson assisted on three goals in Sunday's 4-2 win over Niagara, one of which was on the game-winner. The three-assist performance is a career best and she was part of a defense that held the Purple Eagles to one power-play goal in 13 chances over the weekend.

Wayne State is idle until 2007 when it hosts Colgate Friday and Saturday, Jan. 5-6, at 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively. Friday's contest will be held at City Ice Arena, while Saturday's tilt will be held at the Taylor Sportsplex.
