Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University women's softball squad (4-2 overall) concluded the first day of its spring break trip with a 7-2 triumph over in-region foe Southern Indiana (10-9).

WSU scored three times in the top of the second and twice in the next inning for a 5-0 lead.

Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) led off the second with a double to center field and scored on a one-out single by Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich./Davison). Laura Guzman (Royal Oak, Mich./Bishop Foley) recorded a two-out single and Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont./Forest Heights C.I.) followed with a two-run single.

In the third, Robyn Haig (Waterloo, Ont./Waterloo C.I.) was hit by a pitch with one out and moved to third on another double by Perry. Meredith Boxberger's (Canton, Mich./Home Schooled) single scored both Haig and Perry.

In the fifth, Perry drew a leadoff walk but was erased on a fielder's choice. Seymour scored on an error by the Screaming Eagles.

LeClair led off the sixth with a single and advanced to second on a ground out. On a ground out by Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont./Acton), LeClair moved to third and scored on a throwing error.

WSU hurler Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont./Glenview Park S.S.) went the distance striking out 10 with only one walk. She allowed two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Eight different WSU batters had hits with Perry and LeClair leading the way with two each.

The Warriors face Southwest Minnesota State and East Stroudsburg on Sunday as they continue play in the Rebel Spring Games.
