Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball squad improved to 5-3 overall with a 4-3 victory over East Stroudsburg on Sunday in the Rebel Spring Games.
Lauren Warkentien (East China, Mich./Marine City) started in the circle for the Warriors, allowing one run on three hits in 1+ inning. Sarah Ytsma (Chatham, Ont./McGregor S.S.) earned her third win on the season in relief, allowing two runs - one unearned - and three hits in six innings. She did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
Senior Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont./St. Francis S.S.) went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Warriors, while the other three-hit batter was junior Robyn Haig (Waterloo, Ont./Waterloo C.I.), who was 3-for-4.
Haig's single in the bottom of the seventh plated Sarah Berry (Acton. Ont./Acton) with the winning run.
