Lakeland, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball team (5-4 overall) was shut out, 8-0 in five innings, Monday night by the 12th-ranked Florida Southern Moccasins (19-8) in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Mocs received RBI singles in the bottom of the first from Sarah Kohlbrenner and Natalie Lang. Florida Southern scored three times in the fourth, and three times in the fifth to end the game by the eight-run rule.

Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont./St. Francis S.S.) had two of WSU's three hits, but FSC pitcher Megan Brown (11-4) threw her fifth shutout of the season by allowing only three hits while striking out eight and walking no one.

Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) also had a single for Wayne State.

Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont./Glenview Park S.S.) started in the circle for the Warriors and allowed five runs (two earned) in four innings with two strikeouts and four walks. She suffered her first defeat of the season. Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont./St. Mary's) faced six batters in the fifth inning allowing three runs (two earned) while recording one out.
