Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball team (12-6) won its sixth straight game, third by run-rule, with a 10-2 triumph over Eckerd College on Saturday afternoon in the Warriors' final game of their spring break trip.
Freshman Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont./St. Mary's) was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs - one unearned - in five innings while walking one batter and striking out 11. Junior Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) went 4-for-4, including three RBIs and one run scored. Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont./Forest Heights C.I.) recorded three hits, three RBIs and two runs.
Wayne State will host the WSU Invitational next weekend (March 24-25) with Ferris State, Findlay, and Hillsdale. All games will be played at the WSU Softball Field or the softball practice field.
The Warriors are slated to play three games on Saturday (Findlay at 10 am, Hillsdale at noon, and Ferris State at 3 pm).
