Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball squad (9-9 overall) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat St. Xavier (3-7 overall), 6-2, Friday morning.
The Cougars scored first with a pair of runs in the top of the first on three hits.
In the bottom of the frame, Amanda Van't Wout had a one-out double and Sarah Berry was hit by a pitch. After a pop out, Robyn Haig drilled a three-run home run, the 11th of her career.
In the bottom of the third, Van't Wout had a lead-off double and Berry followed with a single. Meredith Boxberger's sacrifice fly scored Van't Wout, while Haig's double plated Berry. Stephanie LeClair's sacrifice bunt moved Haig to third and she scored on a Sarah Teller single.
Lauren Warkentien went the distance in the circle for WSU recording one strikeout and no walks. She allowed four hits and two earned runs.
Haig had four RBI along with two hits, while LeClair and Van't Wout each had two hits.
