Findlay, Ohio - The Wayne State University softball team improved to 10-14 overall by winning its GLIAC season-opener, 12-4 in five innings, at the University of Findlay Saturday afternoon. It was the third consecutive game WSU scored 10 or more runs.

Senior Meghan Misiak (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) went the distance to earn the victory and even her record at 4-4. She struck out two and walked one while allowing three earned runs. Misiak has won three straight decisions as the Warriors have scored 26 runs in her last three starts.

WSU scored three times in the second and seven times in the third for a 10-0 advantage.

Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) reached on an error leading off the second and scored on a Jordan Sinclair (Chatham, Ont./Chatham Kent S.S.) sacrifice fly. After an out, Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich.) walked and scored when Laura Guzman (Royal Oak, Mich./Bishop Foley) reached on an error. Becky Quinn (Ortonville, Mich./Oakland Christian) followed with an RBI triple.

In the top of the third, Robyn Haig (Waterloo, Ont./Waterloo C.I.), Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.), Perry and Sinclair accounted for four consecutive singles and a 5-0 WSU lead. After a pitching change, Anna Schneider (Detroit, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) had an RBI single and Quinn contributed a sacrifice fly. Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont./St. Francis S.S.) had an RBI single and Berry drove in two runs with a double.

The Oilers scored twice in both the bottom of third and fourth innings, but Wayne State tallied twice in the top of the fifth to complete the scoring.

Quinn went two-for-three with two triples and three runs batted in. It marked the second straight game with two hits and three RBI for Quinn. Berry went two-for-four with a double and two RBI. Guzman set a WSU season-best mark with three runs scored, while Haig has a hit in eight of her last nine contests.
