Ashland, Ohio - The Wayne State University women's softball team (11-15 overall, 2-1 GLIAC) suffered its first conference loss of the season, 3-2, at Ashland University (18-11, 3-0) Sunday afternoon in the first game of a twinbill.

The host Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by Jill Allerding.

WSU tallied once in the top of the second. Sophomore Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) led off with a double to left center. Jordan Sinclair's (Chatham, Ont./Chatham Kent S.S.) sacrifice bunt advanced Perry to third and she scored as Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich.) reached on an error.

The Warriors tied the game at two with a single run in the top of the fourth. Perry singled to left with one out and moved to second on an infield single by Sinclair. Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont./St. Francis S.S.) followed with a double to left center scoring Perry.

After Ashland stranded a runner at second in the bottom of the fourth, both teams were retired in order in the fifth and sixth innings, and WSU went 1-2-3 in the seventh.

Kristen McGaughey led off the seventh with a game-winning home run off WSU starter Meghan Misiak (Livonia, Mich./Churchill). Misiak allowed only five hits and three runs with seven strikeouts and one walk but takes the loss to fall to 4-5.

Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) had her nine-game hitting streak come to an end, but Perry extended her hit streak to five games with her eighth multiple-hit game of the season. WSU is 0-10 when scoring two or less runs in a game.
