Indianapolis, Ind. - The Wayne State University softball team (20-8 overall) won for the 14th time in the last 16 contests with a 4-0 triumph at the University of Indianapolis (17-11) in the first game of a non-league doubleheader on Monday.

Warrior junior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) was nearly perfect facing just 22 batters (one over the minimum). She struck out 17 and only allowed one base runner, Lindsay Maraldo, who was hit by a pitch with two outs in the bottom of the second. Yetman then retired the final 16 Greyhound hitters including the last nine on strikes for her second no-hitter of the season (her first was on March 24 in six innings against Hillsdale).

The 17 strikeouts is a WSU record and is tied-for-third best all-time in an NCAA Division II seven-inning game behind the 20 by Dori Stankewitz of Florida Southern on March 14, 1987, vs. Tampa; the 18 by Stankewitz on March 30, 1985, vs. Florida Tech; the 17 by Lizzy Prescott of Humboldt State on April 27, 2006, vs. St. Martin's in a six-inning game; and the 17 by Julianne Coleman of Florida Southern on Feb. 27, 1998, vs. Northwood.

Offensively for WSU it was the beginning of the order as the top four combined to go six-for-13 with four runs scored and three RBI.

Leading the attack was junior first baseman Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) and junior third baseman Robyn Haig (Waterloo, Ont.) who each had two hits.

Wayne State snapped a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth with an unearned run. Junior Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) had a leadoff single and advanced to second on a passed ball. A single through the left side by Haig moved Berry to third and she scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Meredith Boxberger (Canton, Mich.).

The Warriors added two insurance runs the next inning on back-to-back two out home runs by Perry and senior catcher Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont.).

WSU's final run came in the top of the seventh as Perry drew a one-out walk. After Kish reached on a fielder's choice, she stole second before Berry was walked. Haig then singled down the left field line scoring Kish.
