DETROIT - The 25th-ranked Wayne State University softball squad (28-13 overall) won its fourth straight contest with a 6-2 triumph over visiting Missouri-St. Louis (20-26) Sunday afternoon in the second game of a non-league twinbill.

In the bottom of the second, the Warriors exploded for five runs, all coming with two outs. Amanda Van't Wout (Guelph, Ont.) had a leadoff single and Sarah Teller (Chesterfield Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) walked. After a sacrifice bunt by Laura Guzman (Royal Oak, Mich./Bishop Foley) and a fielder's choice, WSU had runners on the corners with two outs.
Sarah Kish walked (St. Catharines, Ont.) walked to load the bases and Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) followed with a single through the left side scoring Van't Wout. Meredith Boxberger's (Canton, Mich.) single up the middle scored Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) while Robyn Haig's (Waterloo, Ont.) walk on a 3-2 pitch plated Kish. Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich.) then followed with a line drive laser off the second baseman scoring two more runs.
The Riverwomen scored twice in the top of the third on three hits, and had runners at second and third with one out, but Ytsma retired the final two hitters.
WSU scored the final run of the contest in the bottom of the fourth on two UMSL errors. Berry reached on a fielding error, moved to second on a single by Boxberger, and advanced to third on a fielder's choice and scored when the throw trying to complete a double play was wide of first.
Ytsma struck out four and walked two in recording her sixth win of the season. Boxberger and Teller each had two hits for Wayne State as the Warriors had nine hits for the second straight game.
Wayne State plays a GLIAC doubleheader at Lake Superior on Monday before hosting Northern Kentucky in a non-league twinbill on Wednesday.
