ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Wayne State softball team (26-20 overall) was defeated, 5-1, in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Oakland University (20-22 overall) on Tuesday.

Laura Chomokos pitched a complete game for Oakland, scattering eight hits and striking out five for her 13th victory of the season.

Oakland opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the second, as Alex Perrino's RBI single to center put the Golden Grizzlies up, 1-0, and a bunt single by Cheron Guyton drove in OU's second run. Oakland then executed a double steal, plating Perrino.

The Grizzlies hit three singles in the third to increase their lead to 4-0, and tacked on another run with a double steal in the fourth.

Back-to-back doubles by Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich.) and Laura Guzman (Royal Oak, Mich.) put the Warriors on the board in the top of the fifth, ending Chomokos' shutout bid.

Wayne State attempted a two-out rally with three straight singles in the seventh but left the bases loaded to end the game.

WSU starter Meghan Misiak (Livonia, Mich.) went four innings and gave up five runs on six hits. Lauren Warkentien (East China, Mich.) pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Guzman was 3-for-3 with Wayne State's lone RBI.
