DETROIT - The 25th-ranked Wayne State University softball team (31-13 overall, 10-5 GLIAC), behind the first perfect game in school history, defeated visiting Ashland University (27-17 overall, 9-8 GLIAC) 2-0 Friday afternoon in the first game of a conference doubleheader at the WSU Softball Stadium.

WSU junior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) retired all 21 Eagle batters going to a three ball count on only two hitters, both of which struck out (Kelli Williams in the third, and Kristen McGaughey to end the game). In addition, she recorded 12 strikeouts while throwing strikes on 73 of 97 pitches.

Classmate Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) provided the offense with an RBI single in the third, and a two-out RBI double in the fifth. Junior Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) scored both runs. Perry had a leadoff single in the third, and was hit by a pitch with one out in the fifth.

In the third following Perry's single, she advanced to second on Sarah Kish's (St. Catharines, Ont.) team-leading 13th sacrifice bunt. Berry then laced the next pitch from AU's Samantha Hendrix into left center to plate Perry.

In the bottom of the fifth, Perry moved to second on a groundout by Kish, and Berry followed by drilling the next pitch into left center having it roll to the fence scoring Perry.
