Wayne State University senior pitcher Meghan Misiak (Sr., Livonia, Mich./Churchill) has been selected Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Pitcher of the Week after compiling a 3-0 record with wins against LSSU, Northwood (2-1) and Saginaw Valley (one-hit shutout in 1-0 win), and a save against Northwood.
In Thursday's win over Lake Superior, she allowed two runs on two hits with five strikeouts.
In Friday's game one win over then first place Northwood, Misiak limited the Timberwolves to five hits and one run with three strikeouts.
She earned a save in the second game by tossing 2.2 innings of hitless relief with four strikeouts. Misiak entered the contest in bottom of fifth with WSU leading 4-3 and NU runners on second and third with one out. She retired the next seven batters to preserve the win.
In the first game on Saturday against Saginaw Valley, Misiak pitched a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. Her earned-run average for the week was 1.29 and opponents batted just .127 (9-71) against her. Misiak finished with 20 strikeouts to only seven walks in 21.2 innings.
The Warriors conclude their 14-game home stand with a GLIAC doubleheader on Tuesday versus Hillsdale. WSU travels to Northern Kentucky for a regional twinbill on Wednesday before returning to the WSU Softball Stadium for another regional doubleheader against Indianapolis on Saturday. Saturday will also be "Senior Day" for Amanda Dowe, Meghan Misiak, Jordan Sinclair and Sue Verbeem.
