Wayne State University junior outfielder Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) and junior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) were selected GLIAC Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Berry tallied 11 RBIs, four home runs, and a .483 batting average in leading WSU to a perfect 8-0 mark and the GLIAC regular-season crown last week. She recorded a .931 slugging percentage (27 total bases) and a .500 on-base percentage on the week, striking out just once in 30 plate appearances. In Sunday's deciding game for the GLIAC regular-season title, Berry went three-for-four at the plate with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. She currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC in overall batting average (.405), and second in hits (60). She led the GLIAC in conference hits (32), total bases (51), batting average (.533), slugging percentage (.850) and on-base percentage (.580), while finishing third in RBI (19) and home runs (5).
Yetman helped WSU to an 8-0 week and the GLIAC regular season title by tossing three shutouts plus a combined shutout in her five starts which included a perfect game against Ashland on Friday. Opponents batted .081 (10-123) against her with just one extra-base hit. She earned the win in relief in game two at LSSU by striking out all four batters she faced. Yetman had a stretch of retiring 32 consecutive batters and enters the week having not allowed a run in the last 32 innings, which includes 10 shutout innings of FSU on Sunday. She led the GLIAC in conference ERA (0.29), opposing batting average (.119), wins (10), shutouts (7) and strikeouts (108), while ranking third in innings pitched (73.2).
