The Wayne State University softball team moved up five places in this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Poll into the top 20 after sitting at No. 25 the past two weeks.

The Warriors went 8-0 last week including six consecutive shutouts to end the regular season.

WSU is the No. 1 seed for this weekend's GLIAC tournament at Emerson Park in Midland. Wayne State will play Saginaw Valley, the No. 8 seed, at noon on the main diamond.

The 2007 GLIAC tournament is a double elimination tournament featuring the top eight teams from the GLIAC regular-season standings.

The 2007 GLIAC champion will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament which will be held the following weekend. The champion is determined 50 percent on regular-season conference and 50 percent on league tournament finish.
