Midland, Mich. - Six Wayne State University softball student-athletes were named to All-GLIAC teams on Friday during the conference tournament being held at Emerson Park in Midland, Mich.
WSU junior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) was selected GLIAC Player of the Year in vote of the league's head coaches. She also named to the All-GLIAC First Team.
Joining Yetman on the first team were senior catcher Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont.) and junior outfielder Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.).
Voted to the All-GLIAC Second Team was junior first baseman Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy).
Named to the All-GLIAC honorable mention squad were junior outfielder Meredith Boxberger (Canton, Mich.) and sophomore shortstop Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich.).
Head coach Gary Bryce was voted the "Michael J. Corbett" GLIAC Coach of the Year for the ninth time in his Wayne State career, and for the second consecutive season.
Yetman led the GLIAC in strikeouts (108), shutouts (7), opponents batting average (.119), strikeouts per game (10.26) and earned-run average (0.29), while tying for the lead with 10 victories. She allowed three extra-base hits in 73.2 innings among her 29 hits allowed. She walked only 15 batters.
Kish did it offensively and defensively for the Warriors. She ranked second in the GLIAC in fielding chances and putouts and tied for second in runners caught stealing, while batting .373 offensively (8th in the GLIAC) with a .431 on-base percentage (9th in the GLIAC). She was also among the league leaders in hits per game (6th at 1.10), runs per game (3rd at 0.75), and toughest to strikeout per game (3rd at 0.15).
Berry led the GLIAC in batting average (.533), slugging percentage (.850), on-base percentage (.580), hits (32), hits per game (1.60) and total bases (51), while ranking third in RBI (19) and home runs (5). She also recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Perry tied-for-first in the GLIAC in runs scored (18), while recording 19 hits and 11 RBI with five walks and three home runs.
Boxberger ended the regular-season with .313 overall average and 22 RBI, while playing errorless defense.
Seymour batted .328 in the league with three doubles and a .426 slugging percentage. She had 20 hits in 20 contests.
