Six Wayne State University student-athletes plus head coach Gary Bryce were honored today by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the 2006 season. A ceremony was held on the main diamond at Emerson Park in Midland between the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. games of the league tournament.
Senior shortstop Sue Verbeem (LaSalle, Ont./Sandwich S.S.), junior catcher Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont./St. Francis S.S.), sophomore utility player Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) and senior pitcher Meghan Misiak (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) were each selected to the All-GLIAC First Team in voting of the league's head coaches this week.
Two WSU players earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC accolades - senior third baseman Jordan Sinclair (Chatham, Ont./ Chatham Kent S.S.) and sophomore infielder Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich,/Kennedy).
Bryce was named GLIAC Coach of the Year for the eighth time in his illustrious 25-year career at Wayne State.
