Wayne State University senior Sarah Kish (St. Catharines, Ont./St. Francis S.S.) was named to the CoSIDA 2007 Softball Academic All-District IV College Division First Team. She was the only GLIAC player in District 4 to earn First Team honors.
A nutrition and food sciences major, Kish was voted to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-League First Team for the second consecutive year last week. She was a Second Team Academic All-District honoree in 2006.
Kish is currently batting .315 while also ranking among the team leaders in on-base percentage (.379) and fielding percentage (.989). Kish was second on the squad with 11 walks. She contributed defensively throwing out 47 percent would be opponent base stealers.
She is among the GLIAC overall leaders in hit by pitch (4th/4), while leading all conference players in sacrifice hits (17). Kish is fifth in both total plate appearances (178) and toughest to strikeout (8 strikeouts in 146 at bats). Defensively, she leads all GLIAC players in fielding chances (349) and putouts (327).
The District IV Academic team was selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) located in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama and the College Division includes student-athletes at Division II and III institutions plus NAIA schools.
