Softball Alums Claim 3-1 Win

Twenty-two former WSU softball players returned on Sunday for the annual alumni game versus the current squad of Warriors. The alums were 3-1 winners as Lindsey Perry drove in a run in the second on a single and Sarah Berry also scored on the base hit via a throwing error. Johanna Proulx Youngs scored the alums final run on a wild pitch in the third. The current squad's lone run off alum pitchers Meghan Misiak and Dawn Barszczowski Hansen was a solo home run in the bottom of the third by Sam Cain. (more)

Softball Tryouts Slated For September 3

The Wayne State University softball team will be holding a tryout on Thursday, September 3 at 4:00 p.m. at the WSU Softball Field. Anyone interested in attending must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits) for Fall 2009 at WSU; bring proof of insurance; must present proof of a physical exam within the last six months; and RSVP to coach Gary Bryce at 313-595-4041. Eight Softball Student-Athletes Named Academic All-GLIAC

Eight Wayne State University softball student-athletes were named to the 2009 GLIAC All-Academic team. Seniors Laura Maiorana (Clinton Twp., Mich./Eisenhower), Lisa Seymour (Davison, Mich.), Sarah Teller (Chesterfield Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) and Lauren Warkentien (East China, Mich./Marine City) along with juniors Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont./St. Mary's), Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ontario/Cardinal Carter), Casey Hanes (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) and Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont./Forest Heights C.I.) earned a spot on the GLIAC All-Academic squad.
