ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Wayne State women's swimming and diving team earned a 146-97 victory at Grand Valley State on Friday evening.
The Warrior foursome of Katie Harrigan, Amber Staudacher, Laura Leix, and Julie Danaher won the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:02.90. The team of Erin Hill, Jodi Scott, Elena Crowley, and Mandy Burton placed third (4:13.13).
Melissa Duff (10:44.78) and Maggie Young (10:51.83) went one-two in the 1000 free, and Ashley St. Andrew won the 200 free (1:57.10) while Burton placed third (2:01.01).
Danaher and Haintso Rakouth took first (25.56) and third (26.04), respectively, in the 50 free, as did Elaina Hogle (2:09.86) and Harrigan (2:16.23) in the 200 individual medley.
In the one-meter diving competition, Erika Barczak placed second (209.17), Venessa Torres third (201.67), and Katie Rence fourth (196.87). Barczak also finished third in the three-meter diving (209.32).
Hogle (59.83), Leix (1:00.15), and Crowley (1:02.77) took second through fourth in the 100 butterfly, and Rakouth finished in first place in the 100 free (55.71).
Harrigan (1:00.59) and Hill (1:03.18) nabbed the top two finishes in the 100 back, and Wayne State swept the top three spots in the 500 free with St. Andrew (5:09.43), Duff (5:16.69), and Young (5:22.85).
Scott (1:10.76) and Staudacher (1:11.08) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke, and Wayne State capped off the dual meet with a victory in the 400 free relay, as the combination of Danaher, Rakouth, St. Andrew, and Hogle turned in a first-place time of 3:38.97.
The Warriors will compete at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon at Calvin.
