DETROIT, Mich. - In its final regular-season dual meet on Friday, the Wayne State women's swimming and diving team defeated Ashland, 140-91, on Senior and Parent Recognition Night at the Matthaei Aquatic Center.

Highlighting the evening for the Warriors were diver Venessa Torres, who made an NCAA "A" qualifier on the one-meter board (254.26), and Ashley St. Andrew, who won three individual events.

St. Andrew led sweeps of the top three finishes in both the 1000 free (10:25.59) and the 200 free (1:55.60). Melissa Duff (10:50.68) and Maggie Young (10:58.33) took second and third, respectively, in the 1000 free, while Haintso Rakouth (1:59.00) and Mandy Burton (2:00.96) followed St. Andrew in the 200 free.

Julie Danaher (25.07) and Jenny Howe (25.68) went one-two in the 50 free, and Elaina Hogle won the 400 individual medley (4:32.07) with Laura Leix finishing third (4:55.29) and Elena Crowley fourth (4:55.83).

Hogle (2:08.07) and Leix (2:11.05) took the top two spots in the 200 fly, as did Danaher (53.87) and Rakouth (54.90) in the 100 free.

Katie Harrigan (2:12.21), Erin Hill (2:16.11), and Burton (2:16.35) finished second through fourth in the 200 backstroke, followed by St. Andrew (5:08.30) and Duff's (5:22.79) one-two finish in the 500 free.

A Wayne State sweep of the three-meter diving competition, led by Erika Barczak (249.46), sealed the win for the Warriors.

Wayne State will look to defend its conference title at the GLIAC Championships, hosted by Ashland, on Feb. 21-24.
