BUFFALO, N.Y. - Through the first day of the NCAA Division II Championship at the Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y., the Wayne State women's swimming and diving team is in 10th place with 24 points, 103 behind leader Drury University.
Freshman Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) finished in second place in the 1000 free with a time of 10:09.98, breaking her own school record by nearly 10 seconds and earning First Team All-America honors. Melissa Duff (Howell, Mich./Brighton) came in 19th place (10:34.25).
In the "B" final of the 200 individual medley, Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) bested her own school record by .26 seconds with a 12th-place time of 2:08.03, warranting All-America Honorable Mention accolades.
The 200 medley relay team of Katie Harrigan (Portage, Mich./Northern), Hogle, Laura Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern), and Julie Danaher (Allen Park, Mich.) turned in a 16th-place time of 1:50.44.
