ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Wayne State women's swimming and diving team opened their 2006-07 season at the Oakland University Tri-Meet on Friday.
The Warriors were defeated by the host Grizzlies (133-100) but managed to beat the University of Cincinnati (123.5-112.5).
Freshman Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) set a new school record in the 200 IM, finishing in a second-place time of 2:08.34. She also won the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.92.
Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) swam to two second-place finishes in the 200 free (1:57.19) and the 500 free (5:09.35).
Melissa Duff (Howell, Mich./Brighton) took third in the 1000 free (10:45.24), and the 400 free relay team of Haintso Rakouth (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage), Julie Danaher (Allen Park, Mich.), St. Andrew, and Hogle finished second (3:40.25).
Wayne State will compete at Indianapolis on Saturday, Nov. 11.
