Findlay, Ohio - The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team began the dual meet portion of its 2005-06 schedule with a 123-86 triumph at the University of Findlay Friday night in a GLIAC meet.
The Warriors started strong as the quartet of Erin Hill (Holt, Mich.), Amber Staudacher (Rockford, Mich.), Katie Harrigan (Portage, Mich./Northern) and Brooke White (St. Clair Shores, Mich./St. Clair Shores Lakeview) won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:56.25.
WSU took 1-2 in the 1000 free as Mandy Burton (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) placed first (11:08.01) and Whitney Baker (Trenton, Mich.) was second (11:40.34).
Melissa Duff (Howell, Mich./Brighton) and Alina Corrion (Howell, Mich.) went 1-2 in the 200 free with times of 2:03.38 and 2:07.88, respectively.
Staudacher won the 200 IM (2:18.00) and 100 breast (1:09.95).
Sophomore Erika Barczak (Williamston, Mich.) won both the one-meter (254.35) and three-meter (248.55) diving competitions, placing just ahead of teammate Lindsey O'Neill (Dearborn Hts., Mich./Crestwood) [243.70/1-meter; 225.15/3-meter] in both events.
Amanda Marshall (Berkley, Mich.) was first in the 100 fly (1:05.74), while Duff was second (1:06.15).
Harrigan won the 100 back (1:02.52) and was followed by teammates Hill (1:03.57) and Burton (1:05.52).
Wayne State went 1-2-3 in the 500 free with Ashley Eilers (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) winning the event (5:34.86). She was followed by Corrion (5:35.10) and Baker (5:41.69).
WSU's "A" team (White, Kim Gammon [Howell, Mich.], Harrigan and Julie Danaher [Allen Park, Mich.]) won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:44.94.
The Warriors have a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Eastern Michigan.
