Women's Swimming Performs Well At Thursday Prelims

Marquette, Mich. - Wayne State University will have six women in the "A" finals Thursday evening of the 2006 GLIAC Championship being hosted by Northern Michigan University.

The Warriors won the prelim of the 200 free relay in a time of 1:40.78. The quartet consisted of Julie Danaher, Katie Harrigan, Haintso Rakouth and Brooke White.

Three WSU swimmers qualified for the "A" final in the 500 free. Melissa Duff had the best time in the prelims (5:10.20), while Christy Koehler (5:16.01) and Mandy Burton (5:16.57) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Amanda Marshall placed 12th (5:34.54) to qualify for the "B" final.

In the women's 200IM, Harrigan was an "A" finals qualifier (2:11.32), while Amber Staudacher (2:15.34) was a "B" finals qualifier.

Both Brooke White (25.03) and Danaher (25.12) were "A" finals qualifiers in the women's 50 free, while Rakouth placed 18th in a time of 25.89.

The finals for the women's 400 medley relay will also be contested Thursday evening.
