Indianapolis, Ind. - Wayne State University sophomore diver Erika Barczak (Williamston, Mich.) participated in the 2006 NCAA Division II Diving prequalifications on Tuesday in Indianapolis, Ind.

Barczak placed ninth in the one meter (156.05) and 13th in the three meter (190.85) out of 32 competitors. Complete prequalification results.

Only the top 16 advanced to the NCAA Championships. The trials for three meter start at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8. The trials for one meter will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday. The finals for each board will be in evening of the trials.

At the 2005 NCAA Division II Championships in Orlando, Barczak earned First Team All-America honors by placing eighth on the three-meter board by scoring 358.40 points. She became the first All-American female diver for Wayne State since 1986. Erika also earned All-America honorable mention accolades in the one-meter event, placing ninth with 317.65 points.

At last month's GLIAC Championship in Marquette, Barczak won the three-meter diving (400.35 points) and placed second in the one-meter diving (320.20).
