COLUMBIA, Mo. - After a strong preliminary round Wednesday morning, eight members of the Wayne State women's swimming and diving team will compete in the finals at the 2008 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the University of Missouri S&T.
Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) finished 12th in the preliminary 200 individual medley (2:08.27). She also joined Sara Franklin (Caro, Mich.), Agata Zalewska (Swietochlowice, Poland), and Julie Danaher (Allen Park, Mich.) in the 200 medley relay, which placed sixth and set a school record (1:47.35).
Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) and Catherine Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) will swim in tonight's timed final of the 1000 free, and divers Erika Barczak (Williamston, Mich.) and Cassie Chetosky (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica) will compete on the three-meter board, having both finished in the top 16 Tuesday night in the pre-qualifying round.
Wednesday's finals are slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the results from the Mizzou Aquatic Center live.
