Preliminary Results

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Wayne State women's swimming and diving team will have representatives in three "B" finals tonight at the NCAA Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Warriors, who are in 10th place through Wednesday's finals, also broke two school records in Thursday's preliminary round.

Two relays qualified for tonight's "B" finals. Katie Harrigan (Portage, Mich./Northern), Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood), Laura Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern), and Julie Danaher (Allen Park, Mich.) set a Wayne State record in the 400 medley relay, turning in an 11th-place time of 3:57.95. The 200 free relay quartet of Harrigan, Danaher, Leix, and Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) finished in 16th place (1:40.61).

Hogle made the "B" final in the 400 individual medley, posting a 12th-place time of 4:34.86.

Leix came in 17th (58.41) in the preliminary 100 butterfly, missing the "B" final by .10 seconds but breaking her own school record by .50 seconds.

St. Andrew finished 21st in the 200 free (1:56.18).
