March 15, 2008, marks the 35th anniversary of one of the Top 25 Defining Moments in NCAA history.
On March 15, 1973, Wayne State University diver Dacia Schileru participated in the NCAA Division II swimming and diving national championships hosted by WSU.

She was the first female to participate in NCAA championships competition, seven years before the NCAA even officially began staging women's championships. Her participation made a big splash not just for women's sports, but also for the Association.
