BUFFALO, N.Y. - Five members of the Wayne State women's swimming and diving team qualified to participate in Friday's final heats at the NCAA Championship.
Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) finished second in the 500 freestyle, qualifying for tonight's "A" final with a time of 5:02.36. Melissa Duff (Howell, Mich./Brighton) will swim the "B" final after finishing 15th (5:08.94).
In the 100 backstroke, Katie Harrigan (Portage, Mich./Northern) edged out Clarion's Stacy Ogden by .02 seconds to finish 16th and make the "B" final in a time of 59.82.
Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) made the "A" final in the 100 breaststroke, finishing third (2:06.24), while Laura Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) came in ninth (2:07.57) to qualify for the "B" final.
Through Thursday, Wayne State is in 12th place with 45 points. Fans can follow the action of Friday's finals live at this link beginning at 6:30 p.m.
