Two Wayne State swimmers, freshman Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) and sophomore Guilherme Veiga (Vinton, Va./William Byrd), were named the GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimmers of the Week, respectively, following their performances at the Oakland University Tri-Meet this past Saturday.

Hogle set a new Wayne State record in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in a second-place time of 2:08.34 and beating the old record by .42. She also won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.92, missing the WSU record by .20, and anchored the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:40.25) with a split time of 53.28. Hogle's times in the 200 IM and 200 fly were under the NCAA "B" qualifying standard.

Veiga took two first-place finishes at the Tri-Meet, leading the field in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:38.37) - over 13 seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer - and the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.83). His time in the 1000 free made the NCAA "B" qualifying standard.

Wayne State's next competition will be at Indianapolis on Saturday, Nov. 11.
