BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University senior Natalia Buso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.

Buso finished in a tie with Hilary Callen of Denison University for first place in the 1000-yard freestyle at WSU's three-team meet last Saturday. Buso's time of 10:28.36 improved upon her previous national qualifier by nearly 13 seconds.

She also finished second in the 500-yard free (5:13.26) and led off the fifth-place 400-yard free relay as Wayne State defeated both Calvin College and Denison in its home pool.

Wayne State's next competition will be Dec. 5-6 at the Eastern Michigan Invitational.
