Wayne State freshman Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) was named GLIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week based on her performance this past weekend at the Eastern Michigan Invitational.

St. Andrew earned two NCAA "A" qualifying times and helped set five school records at the two-day meet in Ypsilanti. In the 1650 free, St. Andrew shattered the mark previously held by Melissa Duff (17:33.91) with her fourth-place time of 17:14.63. During the swim, she also set a WSU record for the 1000 free (10:22.19). Her 500 free time of 5:02.44 was good for an "A" cut, a school record, and sixth place at the meet.

St. Andrew also swam the third leg of the 400 free relay (3:34.68) and 800 free relay (7:46.92), both of which set school records.

Wayne State's next competition will be Jan. 12 at Grand Valley State.
