St. Clair Shores, Mich. - The Wayne State women's tennis team (10-6, 4-5 GLIAC) began spring play by defeating visiting Tiffin (2-2), 9-0, Tuesday afternoon at the Wimbledon Racquet Center.
Five of the six singles matches went two sets except for Amanda Pressotto's (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) #1 singles match with Faith Greenawalt that Pressotto won, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.
Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport), Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover), Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica), Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) and Stephanie Van Tuyl (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard) were victorious in singles play.
Lindsay Oshnock (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) saw just her second appearance of the season and her first since Sept. 30 as she and Mays defeated Dena Haehn and Wynter Toland, 8-4, in #3 doubles.
The Warriors head to Orlando, Fla. for their spring matches. WSU face Franklin & Marshall on March 10 at 10:30 a.m.
